It is 6:30 in the morning, and your alarm clock goes off.
You don’t have to be to work until 8:30 so there is no reason that you need to
be up that early. It is so tempting to hit the snooze button and roll back
over, because who wants to get up and go run at 6:30 in the morning!
This is the situation that I found myself in this morning.
The dreaded alarm clock went off, and I thought wouldn’t it be nice to get
skinny by lying in my warm bed where I know that my body isn’t going to hurt
afterwards. Somehow, I managed to kick myself in the butt and go to the gym. It
isn’t easy, but I had to think of the one thing that always keeps me going.
It isn’t fun to get up in the early morning to go workout.
When you think about it though, why not start your day off in the right
direction. I have noticed that since I have started working out in the morning
I am more energized, feel more positive for the rest of my day, and am able to
enjoy my night. Working from 8:30 to 6 every day, I was trying to work out at
night. I was not able to see my family, and was working on my homework late
into the night. I’m not saying it was the easiest decision I have ever made,
but it gets easier every day.
What gets me out of bed to head to the gym is various
different things. First, I make sure that I schedule my day. I put down into my
planner that I will work out from 6:30-7:30 in the morning. Next, I make sure that all of my workout gear
is out so that I can grab it and go. For
me, going to bed the night before at a decent time helps me be able to wake up
and get my butt out of bed. When I actually make it to the gym I make sure that
I have a good playlist to listen to, and try to find different exercises to try
and make it more fun.
It isn’t always easy, and well almost every day I take a
ride on the struggle bus. However, I am dedicated to living a healthy
lifestyle, and this is my biggest motivation for everything that I do. I’m
adding miles to my Journey every day. I just gotta keep on plugging away.
GRRRR I just typed up my comment and then it all got deleted. well, first off i loved reading your blog, I have always been on the heavier side and then I get into a weight loss kick but then I just like you side hit the snooze button. What is YOUR motivation of not hitting the snooze button and just rolling out of bed? reading this really inspired me to get outside and go for a run so maybe ill do that after homework! :) well taylor thanks again for such a great blog and opening up to all of us on the other side of the computer screen!
ReplyDeleteI love your reference to "the struggle bus" that is a great way to explain that feeling of not wanting to exercise I have been there and lost the struggle at times. Thanks for sharing your story and being an inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI am proud of you. It is just so easy to make excuses to stay in bed and tell yourself that you will exercise after work, even if you know that you won't. Your dedication is admirable and will for sure help you live a healthy life!
